With South Africa set to miss out on yet another World Cup, it looks as though Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands is turning to an iconic source for inspiration. Did you see what he has been reading lately?
No one knows of struggle and hardship like the late Nelson Mandela, and although what the former president of South Africa went through during his life is no way comparable to the adversities one may face in football, there are still many life lessons one can take away from reading his biography, A Long Walk To Freedom.
Buccaneers shot-stopper Sandilands appeared excited to get stuck into the book as he recently took to Instagram to post a photo of it, along with the caption: "Really looking forward to reading this... don't know why it's taken me so long to get it... I guess God's timing in things is perfect #betterlatethennever"

Sandilands and the rest of the Bafana Bafana squad are in Senegal to play the second leg of their 2018 World Cup qualifier tonight, and even though qualification is now completely off the table, the national team will be looking to use the game to restore at least some of the nation's faith in them.
What other books would you suggest for Sandilands?
