In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Chancy Gondwe has shared his insights on the future of the Tshwane giants, predicting a continued era of dominance in the local league.
The Malawian-born legend, who has since taken up a pastoral role back in Malawi, believes that Sundowns' recent performances and strategic planning set them apart from their competitors in the DStv Premiership league.
Gondwe, reflecting on his time with the club and its evolution since, pointed out to the remarkable achievement of Sundowns winning the league title six times consecutively, with the team currently in contention for their seventh.

"I don't see anyone stopping Sundowns in the next five years or so. At the rate they are going they will dominate for the next five years. You see that they have won the league title six times in a row and they are fighting for the seventh one now? They can win the next five I tell you. It's the way they play. And also their participation in Africa gives them that experience and edge over the other teams. I feel this is Sundowns' time and it will be for a long time to come unless other teams pull up their (socks) to match them," Gondwe told the Siya crew.
The secret to Sundowns' success, according to Gondwe, lies in the club's commitment to consistency and continuity. This approach has not only fostered a winning culture but also ensured stability within the squad and the technical team.
"They keep consistency. They have a continuity system at the club. Whether it's for the technical team or the players. They give their players long term contracts which doesn't disturb their system even when new players come in because their culture and philosophy is contributing all the time. And when the technical team or the coach is there for a long time he understands what the club wants and it's easy to implement and continue with the winning project. This is what will make Sundowns dominate for a long time and as I have said at least for the next five years or so," Gondwe concluded.
